Questions about image cropper
Will cropping reduce the quality?
No. The export is taken from the image's real pixels, not from the smaller version shown on screen — cropping a quarter of a 6000px photo gives you a 1500px image, not a 300px one.
Which format should I choose?
PNG for anything with sharp edges, text or transparency, since it is lossless. JPG for photographs, where it produces a much smaller file at no visible cost. WebP is smaller again and is supported by every current browser.
Is my file uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser — the file is read from your device, processed there, and never sent anywhere. You can confirm it by disconnecting from the network after the page loads; the tool still works.
Is there a file size limit?
100MB. The limit is your device's memory rather than a policy: beyond that the browser tab tends to run out of memory rather than simply being slow.
Do I need an account?
No. Signing in only adds a library, so your results are still there when you come back.
